Best NC Today, Ever! Attendees Give ASNC Rave Reviews for Nuclear Cardiology Today
Faculty at ASNC's signature Nuclear Cardiology Today program were delighted with the attendance and engagement at last month's 2½-day event in Chicago.

ASNC's Nuclear Cardiology Today program drew almost 200 nuclear cardiology specialists for in-depth, interactive education on issues that are keeping practitioners up at night.

“We've never had so many unsolicited positive comments,” says Program Co-director David A. Wolinsky, MD, MASNC. He and Program Co-director Dennis A. Calnon, MD, MASNC, made interaction their priority as they planned each one of the course's 44 sessions. Their goal was to create a forum where faculty and attendees participated together to zero in on the issues and questions that are keeping nuclear cardiology teams up at night.Clearly, they succeeded, as was especially evident in the case-based “Practical Dilemmas in Nuclear Cardiology” and the timely “Healthcare Policy: Optimizing the Role of Nuclear Cardiology in the Next Decade” sessions. The participation in all of the NC Today sessions, “but particularly these, really demonstrates how committed our members are to delivering the best care and how concerned they are about ensuring that the healthcare environment doesn't unnecessarily restrict their ability to do what's best for each patient,” says Dr. Calnon.
The key to NC Today's success, Dr. Calnon says, was “relatively short presentations, content carefully selected to address the needs of practicing nuclear cardiologists, and sessions designed to encourage interaction with faculty.”
The interaction was off the charts the “Practical Problems in Nuclear Cardiology” session, a unique open-forum discussion where faculty and attendees tackled issues that nuclear cardiologists and their staff face on a daily basis.
Attendees praised the program's keynote speakers, both of whom are ASNC past presidents: James Udelson, MD, MASNC, who is editor in chief of Circulation: Heart Failure and Kim A. Williams, MD, MASNC, who is also a past president of the American College of Cardiology.
Nuclear Cardiology Today also was enhanced by the diversity of its attendees, with all team members represented and some teams participating together. ASNC staff are analyzing the evaluations for insights on program highlights and data on sessions of special interest to various members. “We know, for example, that the Technologist Exchange session, led by April Mann, CNMT, MBA, MASNC, was of great value to nuclear cardiology teams,” says Dr. Wolinsky. “The evaluations, plus any input attendees send us, will help us continue growing the program. Enthusiasm like we had at NC Today is a rather rare in the world of CME. We intend to keep on delivering.”
