The ASNC2018 Mario Verani lecture will be presented by Kim Allan Williams, MD, MACC, MASNC, FAHA, FESC, who has presided over three of the country's cardiovascular societies and is the cardiology division chief at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
Dr. Williams is known for his visionary leadership and creativity in tackling complex problems, qualities that distinguished him during his terms as president of ASNC in 2004-05, chair of the Association of Black Cardiologists Board of Directors in 2008-09 and president of the American College of Cardiology in 2015-16. Patients in Detroit and now Chicago have benefited from his innovative approaches. As chair of the cardiology division at Wayne State University School of Medicine, he launched the Urban Cardiology Initiative. Dr. Williams adapted the concept at Rush, with the HEART (Helping Everyone Assess Risk Today) program, which provides screening for cardiovascular disease at churches and community groups.“ASNC is honored to have Dr. Kim Williams, a visionary thought-leader and a compassionate physician-scientist, deliver the Mario Verani lecture this year,” says ASNC 2018 President Prem Soman, MD, PhD, FSCAI. Dr. Soman is looking forward to welcoming Dr. Williams to ASNC2018, which will kick off with a full day of educational sessions on Thursday, Sept. 6, and run through Saturday, Sept. 9. Dr. Williams will present the 2018 Mario Verani lecture.
Presenting the Mario Verani lecture is “THE honor to which every nuclear cardiologist aspires, essentially a validation of a life's work,” says Dr. Williams. He plans to speak to the nuclear cardiology community about imaging in the assessment of preventive cardiology.
Don't miss the opportunity to hear Dr. Williams at ASNC2018.
