International Collaborations: ASNC Participates in Latin American Cardiology Conferences

ASNC continues to be welcomed as a partner and friend by cardiology organizations throughout the world, most recently in Latin America, where ASNC was warmly welcomed by conference organizers and attendees in Mendoza, Argentina, and Bogota, Colombia.
At the XXXVI National Congress of Cardiology of the Argentine Federation of Cardiology (FAC), ASNC President Prem Soman, MD, PhD, FASNC, and Federation President Jorge Camiletti, MD, signed a Proclamation of Collaboration, announcing intent to promote educational, research and other activities that will strengthen nuclear cardiology in Argentina. Other highlights included a special FAC/ASNC roundtable titled, “SPECT Myocardial Perfusion Imaging for the Assessment of the Left Ventricular Mechanical Dyssynchrony,” with Dr. Soman as chair and Erick Alexanderson, MD, Leslee Shaw, PhD, MASNC, and Daniel Berman, MD, MASNC, as ASNC faculty.
 
ASNC also participated in the VIII Iberoamerican Conference of Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac Imaging, a biennial Latin American event. In Bogota, Dr. Soman was joined by Ernest V. Garcia, PhD, MASNC, Leslee Shaw, PhD, MASNC, Joao Vitola, MD, PhD, MASNC, Fernando Mut, MD, and David Wolinsky, MD, MASNC, for a roundtable on advances with PET and SPECT in coronary artery disease. Conference organizers Ramon Murgueitio, MD, and Claudia Gutiérrez, MD, worked with ASNC and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to provide complimentary registration for 30 physicians to attend the conference and a weeklong training course.
