International Collaborations: ASNC Participates in 3 Overseas Conferences

ASNC representatives Gregory Thomas, MD, MPH, MASNC, and Robert C. Hendel, MD, MASNC, Alia Abdelfattah, MD, FASNC, Ahmed Aaty, MD, PhD, FASNC, and Adel Allam, MD, FASNC, joined more than 7,000 physician attendees at CardioAlex in June.
Held in Alexandria, Egypt, the four-day conference showcased presentations on new research and advances by internationally recognized professors as well as Egyptian experts. The conference also met the everyday needs of cardiologists with interactive education and hands-on guidance of clinical skills.
The July meeting of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology Chapter Parana State included a number of educational highlights for the more than 1,100 attendees. Among them was a spirited debate between ASNC International Advisory Panel Member Fernando Mut, MD, and the chapter's president, João Vitola, MD, PhD, MASNC, on opportunities for nuclear cardiology to guide care and prevent unnecessary revascularizations. Held in Curitiba, Brazil, the event also addressed such topics as nuclear imaging to evaluate brain-heart pathophysiology and interaction, Takotsubo stress cardiomyopathy, and the role of emotion in provoking various cardiac conditions.
Raymond Russell, MD, PhD, MASNC and Sharmila Dorbala, MD, MPH, FASNC, participated
in a consultancy meeting at the International Atomic Energy Agency to discuss the importance of noninvasive imaging in cardiology-oncology.
