Update: Pennsylvania "Patient Test Result Information Act"

In response to stakeholder comments, the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) will delay fines for noncompliance with the Act for one year. During this period, the state will develop educational materials to prepare physicians for the Act.
Although fines are delayed, the DOH confirmed “imaging entities” are expected to abide by the law and develop procedures to notify patients of “significant abnormalities.” Should the DOH determine that an entity is not in compliance, the agency will issue a notice with information to remedy any issues. The DOH will issue final clarifying guidance on or about December 31, 2019.
ASNC will continue to work with the Department of Health and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the Patient Test Result Information Act best serves Pennsylvania patients.
