Update on Medicare AUC Program: Do You Need to Buy a Clinical Decision Support Mechanism?

ASNC and its coalition partners continue their efforts on Capitol Hill to garner support for a legislative solution to the AUC program. On January 30th, ASNC CEO Kathy Flood and Health Policy Director Andy McKinley met with the offices of Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS) and Sen. Mike Crapo (R-ID). Ms. Flood and Mr. McKinley asserted clinicians should be granted flexibility on how they consult the AUC and should not be burdened by significant costs and disrupted practice workflow, especially considering the tremendous efforts required of physicians to participate in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System and Alternative Payment Models. In addition, they noted the lack of a distinct quality component and drew a contrast with the real-time provider education provided by ImageGuide Registry®.
