ASNC Opposes Bill to Repeal In-Office Ancillary Service Exception to Stark
ASNC and 28 other physician organizations have communicated opposition to H.R. 2143, the Promoting Integrity in Medicine Act, which was introduced by Reps. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) and Dina Titus (D-Nev.) on April 9.
If enacted, the bill would prevent physicians from referring Medicare patients to their in-office ancillary services, including advanced imaging. In a letter to the chairs of four House committees, ASNC and its coalition partners emphasized that the bill would “severely limit patient access to life-saving services provided within coordinated care models as well as further fragment the healthcare delivery system during the transition to value-based payments and alternative payment models.”
