Keynote Speakers for the Opening Day of its Annual Scientific Session this September in Chicago

Clyde Yancy, MD, MSc, Cardiology Chief and Vice Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine and John Mahmarian, MD, MASNC, Medical Director of Nuclear Cardiology and Computed Tomography (CT) Services at Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center present on opening day of ASNC2019 September 12 in Chicago.
The American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC) Annual Scientific Session, ASNC2019, will kick off with a full day of educational sessions on Thursday, Sept. 12 and run through Sunday, Sept. 15. As the only professional organization dedicated to the dynamic specialty of nuclear cardiology, ASNC2019 will address emerging research, new technology, and advances in treatment in the field of nuclear cardiology and cardiac imaging.

This year's annual meeting begins at noon on Thursday, Sept. 12 with Clyde Yancy, MD, MSc, Cardiology Chief and Vice Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, “Addressing Cardiovascular Disease Disparities: Are We Getting Closer to the Truth?”

On Thursday Sept. 12 at 5:00 p.m., the 2019 Mario Verani Lecturer John Mahmarian, MD, MASNC, Medical Director of Nuclear Cardiology and Computed Tomography (CT) Services at Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center will present “A Tale of Two Imaging Technologies: Can Nuclear Cardiology Survive the Emergence of Cardiac CT?“ Dr. Mahmarian is recognized nationally and internationally as an authority in nuclear cardiology and cardiac CT imaging. He trained with Dr. Verani and served as Past President of ASNC in 2012.

“There has been an evolution in the role of the nuclear cardiologist in the team-based approach of healthcare delivery. This year's sessions will help inform our attendees about best practices, disease-based management and the role of artificial intelligence in nuclear cardiology. Patients will offer insight about their perspectives and nuclear cardiologists can learn from the experts in our field,” says Panithaya Chareonthaitawee, MD, ASNC2019 Program Chair.

ASNC2019 sessions include:
  • Demographics Dictate: Evaluating Ischemia in Special Populations
  • Getting to the Heart of the Matter: Cardiac Amyloidosis Nuclear Scans in Practice
  • Debates in Cardiac PET: Clash of the Photons
  • Cases with the Aces
  • PET Lab Visit
ASNC2019 supports a multimodality agenda, featuring collaborative and interactive educational programs and presentations on the latest scientific and clinical research findings in order to promote a cost-effective, patient-centered approach to medical care. Cardiologists, physicians, scientists, radiologists, technologists, imaging specialists, and other professionals from around the world with an interest in the field attend this educational event each year.
