CMS Relaxes Requirements for Medicare's Telehealth Billing
On March 17, CMS announced that it will expand Medicare telehealth benefits pursuant to its authority under the §1135 waiver authority and the “Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act.”
&‹Clinicians may begin billing immediately for telehealth visits for dates of service starting March 6, 2020. These telehealth visits will be reimbursed under the Physician Fee Schedule in the same amount as for in-person visits.For additional information, including applicable services, guidance on required modifiers, and relaxation of requirements for established relationships between providers and patients, see the CMS fact sheet and FAQs.
