Each of these investigators generously gave today's young investigators a thorough briefing on the work they are doing and answered questions, but more importantly, they offered a window into the future. The four presentations illustrated the unique approaches the investigators have used to study the fundamental biology of atherosclerosis, including how to identify potential imaging targets, develop a novel receptor targeted tracer for atherosclerosis, apply systems biology, and employ deep phenotyping to advance our understanding of atherosclerosis. If these leaders and research trainees inspired even one participant to similarly pursue his or her own research questions using innovative approaches or to seek out an opportunity for inter-laboratory collaboration, then this program will have succeeded and furthered ASNC's mission.
