Dr. Marcelo Di Carli Named Mario Verani Memorial Lecturer

ASNC is delighted to announce that pioneering physician, researcher, and educator Marcelo Di Carli, MD, MASNC, will present this year's Mario Verani Memorial Lecture at ASNC2020, Sept. 24-27.
Dr. Di Carli is Chief of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging and Director of the Cardiovascular Imaging Program at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Professor of Radiology and Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and the founding editor of Circulation: Cardiovascular Imaging. He is Chair of the American College of Cardiology Cardiovascular Imaging Leadership Council, the author of hundreds of peer-reviewed research articles, and the recipient of many awards.

Dr. Di Carli "needs no specific introduction to cardiovascular imagers," says ASNC President Sharmila Dorbala, MD, MPH, FASNC. "He is a cardiovascular molecular imaging expert. His legacy is evident everywhere -- throughout ASNC and in imaging programs throughout the world. He has been the driving force behind the concept of integrated cardiovascular imaging."

Indeed, the title of Dr. Di Carli's Mario Verani Memorial Lecture, "The Evolving Role of Nuclear Cardiology in CAD Management in the Era of Multimodality Imaging," reflects his impact on the specialty. Thanks in large part to his work, PET myocardial blood flow and myocardial flow reserve are no longer research tools used only in academic settings. "These tools are now reimbursed clinical services that cardiovascular imagers are routinely using throughout the world to improve patient outcomes," says Dr. Dorbala.
