Dr. Gregory Thomas Named ASNC2021 Mario Verani Memorial Lecturer

ASNC is delighted to announce that esteemed clinician and scientist Gregory S. Thomas, MD, MPH, MASNC, will present the Mario Verani Lecture at the Society's 26th Annual Scientific Session. Dr. Thomas will present "Imaging and Prevention: A Truly Powerful Combination" during the Sept. 30-Oct. 3 event.

Dr. Thomas is the Medical Director for Cardiovascular Program Development at MemorialCare Heart & Vascular Institute in Southern California and Clinical Professor and Director of Nuclear Cardiology Education at the University of California, Irvine.
Dr. Thomas is widely known for his work as the co-leader of the U.S.-Egyptian team that discovered evidence of atherosclerosis in ancient Egyptian mummies. His team's findings in Egypt have been reported globally, including in The Lancet and the Journal of the American Medical Association. Dr. Thomas is the current President of the Paleocardiology Foundation.
In addition to these roles, Dr. Thomas served as the 2007 President of ASNC and throughout his career has been "a global ambassador for the Society," says ASNC 2021 President Randall C. Thompson, MD, FASNC. "Dr. Thomas has been the face of ASNC to many people for many years. In addition to his substantial contributions to imaging science and to advocacy for our patients and our field, he has made immeasurable contributions to the worldwide community that is ASNC."
