For Fifth Consecutive Year, ImageGuide Wins CMS Top Quality Designation for Registries

The new year got off to a great start for the ImageGuide Registry as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that ImageGuide earned Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR) status for the 2022 reporting year.

CMS established the QCDR designation for the Quality Payment Program (QPP) as a tool to support the then-new Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and ease MIPS reporting requirements for physicians. Each year, CMS thoroughly evaluates QCDR-candidate registries to ensure their quality measures and infrastructure are robust and capable of measuring quality in healthcare. ImageGuide is one of only a few registries that has earned QCDR status every year since the start of MIPS in 2017.

“The fact that ImageGuide has continued to meet CMS's QCDR requirements speaks to the high standards that ASNC set when establishing the registry in 2015 and that ASNC and the American Society of Echocardiography have adhered to since becoming ImageGuide partners,” said Rami Doukky, MD, MS, FASNC, who chairs the ImageGuide Registry Oversight Committee and is a member of ASNC's Board of Directors. “I would encourage any cardiac imager who is looking for a MIPS solution or a quality-improvement strategy for their lab to strongly consider enrolling in ImageGuide.”

QCDR Highlights Value of ImageGuide Registry for Physicians
For cardiac imagers, QCDR also translates into significant value for physcians who enroll in ImageGuide. Because of the QCDR designation, ImageGuide-enrolled physicians will be able to satisfy the agency's reporting requirements for the MIPS Quality, Improvement Activities and Promoting Interoperability categories. In typical years – meaning those where COVID-related exceptions aren't in effect – this benefit translates into less administrative burden and reduced likelihood of financial penalties for inadequate reporting.

ImageGuide enrollment is complimentary for ASNC members.
