ASNC Alert: Minor Mo-99 Supply Interruption Possible Over the Next Week
The Emergency Response Team of Nuclear Medicine Europe (NMEu) alerted the global community to a shutdown of the high flux reactor in Petten, Netherlands, due to a water leak in the beam tube cooling reactor. This shutdown will impact scheduled irradiation of Mo-99, the precursor to technetium-99m, which is widely used in nuclear cardiology.
Read the full NMEu communication.ASNC has reached out to industry partners, who noted the effect on Mo-99 shipments is expected to be minor and will take place over the next week to 10 days.
