GUIDELINE ALERT: New Multimodality AUC Underscore Central Role of SPECT and PET in Patient-centered Testing

May 25, 2023 – The newly released 2023 Multimodality Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) for the Detection and Risk Assessment of Chronic Coronary Disease re-emphasizes the central role of SPECT and PET MPI in patient-centered testing.
SPECT and PET MPI are appropriate first-line tests for patients with –
  • Likely anginal symptoms
  • Prior coronary artery revascularization with anginal or anginal-equivalent symptoms
  • A prior anatomic test (catheterization or CCTA) that is inconclusive or shows moderate stenosis
  • A coronary artery calcium score of 100 or higher
  • New-onset heart failure
Stay tuned to ASNC for more guidance on how to implement the new AUC in your practice.
